The Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering strives to educate the next generation of engineers, fully up to date in innovations their field, and have an input into that of architects in the endeavour to understand structural behaviour for architectural designs. We offer a leading a doctorate programme, Ph.D. in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering.
The Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering is a leading centre of engineering in Italy and very active in research with about 50 PhD and research Masters students. First year students are required to attend taught modules as part of their first-year assessment, and will participare in seminars and courses to equip them with essential skills in research practice and communication. After their first-year, students may apply to undertake research in other institutions abroad. By the end of the PhD, students are expected to have produced original work, in peer-reviewed international journals, making a significant contribution to knowledge in the field of engineering.
Our PhD graduates are highly sought-after for faculty positions by the top universities in our field worldwide and by leading edge companies and government agencies.
The Department runs a series of seminars during the year held by top academics and leaders in their field.
